There are many different makes and models of cellular modem. There are those made by Multitech, Airlink and Huawei (pronounce: wah-way), just to name a scant few, and there are dozens and dozens of models you could use. There are really only two things that matter.
First, the device needs to provide a COM port in the operating system. Second, the device needs to support the AT command set to deliver messages. As long as both of these things are true, you should be able to use that cellular modem with PageGate.

PageGate Supports Sending Messages Out Using GSM-AT / GSM-AT-IP |
PageGate supports communicating with wireless hardware (i.e. modems, phones, routers, etc.) that support the AT Command Set as defined in the GSM specification. This includes the vast majority of cellular/mobile/wireless modems available today.
Using a wireless modem, wireless router, or other similar hardware can be the most reliable and efficient method to deliver SMS text messages. Wireless hardware removes an organization's reliance on an active Internet connection, or other wired connection when sending messages. Another advantage is that the only piece of information necessary to deliver messages via a wireless modem, is the recipient's phone number.
The GSM-AT protocol uses a serial connection to communicate with the wireless hardware.
In order to send a message using GSM-AT-IP you only need a single piece of information. That information is the mobile number you wish to send the message to.

The PageGate Filter Pack is used in conjunction with the Command Line ASCII Interface, enabling PageGate to pass all messages through a customizable filter. This gives PageGate the power to completely reformat the contents of, or extract data from the original message text. Extracting message data from textual data formats like HTML, XML, JSON, etc. is possible using the Filter Pack.
The Filter Pack also support logic operations, allowing for variable output conditional on the content of the original message. In addition, the Filter Pack supports a powerful RegEx (regular expression) engine, opening the possibility of data extraction from just about any data file format.

Text Messaging Etiquette for the Modern Day |
Text Messaging Etiquette for the Modern Day
Texting is ubiquitous with keeping in touch and while texting may in many ways make communication easier, there are a number of potential challenges inherent to the platform. We have put together a list of basic tips that will assist texters in avoiding some of the more common text etiquette faux pas.
Choose Your Recipients Carefully
There is nothing worse than sending a message intended for a paramour, to your boss or a client. While this example may seem extreme, it can and does happen. Pay careful attention to the recipients selected. Often in a group communication, you may not always see all the recipients included in the group, be careful what you choose share.

Can Your Smart Phone Make You, Well, Smarter? |
Despite all the good they do for us, cell phones still seem to have a bad reputation when it comes to our intelligence. We have all heard about fears of the prevalence of cell phones and texting causing our minds to rot away, damaging our grammar, spelling capabilities, interpersonal skills, and even capacity for profound thought. However, it's possible that we may use our phones to the exact opposite effect; smart phones may in fact be used to enhance intelligence.
While smart phones may not be the impetus for intelligence-enhancing programs such as Lumosity, they certainly make them more accessible. Lumosity is an online-based program providing a myriad of games that challenge and improve various aspects of users' intelligence, and its tactics are supported by substantial neuroscience research.

Send Alerts from Network Monitoring Solutions |
When a failure is detected in a business or companys network infrastructure, it is important that the network administrator (or others) are aware of the problem. The easiest way to do this is to send text message notification(s).
While many network monitoring applications have the ability to inherently send email notifications, if the network failure impacts the email system, the alert will not be sent. In order to ensure that alerts are sent and received, we recommend using a 3rd party solution like PageGate along with cellular hardware to send the notifications wirelessly. That way if there is an issue with the network infrastructure the notifications will still be sent and received.
