Cellular hardware comes in three varieties: cellular modem, router and gateway.
Cellular modems are physical devices that typically connect to a system through USB or RS-232. These devices are not virtualized by default but can be virtualized with the aid of a COM port virtualizer. Cellular routers and gateways can natively be accessed by IP.

Using Cellular Modems, Routers & Gateways |
Cellular hardware is the single most reliable and efficient method of delivering SMS with PageGate. By using cellular hardware, you're removing PageGate's reliance on your internet connection to deliver your messages which means that your internet connection could go down and your messages would still be delivered. It's also important to note that using cellular hardware also allows you to receive replies to your messages, which means you can configure a two-way messaging system with SMS.
SMS capable cellular hardware comes in three varieties: cellular modem, router and gateway.

Encrypted SMS & Text Messaging |
What is Encryption?
Encryption is an effective way to ensure data security. Encryption uses an algorithm to scramble (or encrypt) data, it then uses a "key" for the receiving party to unscramble (or decrypt) the text or data. A traditional text message is plaintext, and can easily be read and may even be intercepted. An encrypted message requires a key to decrypt.
