A new survey shows that the manner in which males
and females use text messaging services is very different.
Just a day after Ofcom released research showing that
text communications are taking over from voice based
mobile phone calls, research from Acision show a definitive
split between the genders in SMS usage.
The survey covered 2000 respondents and was led by
psychologist Graham Jones. The survey was designed
to determine any trends in the usage of text messaging.

notes to friends and family, but it could lead to
declining language and grammar skills, according to
researchers.
Tweens who frequently use language adaptations Ȓ
techspeak Ȓ when they text performed poorly on a
grammar test, said Drew Cingel, a former undergraduate
student in communications, Penn State, and currently
a doctoral candidate in media, technology and society,
Northwestern University.
When tweens write in techspeak, they often use shortcuts,
such as homophones, omissions of non-essential letters

A new Cochrane Systematic Review reveals that mobile
phones could be a significant tool in helping HIV
patients take their medication every day. Data from
two Kenyan trials involving 966 HIV-positive adults
were reviewed by researchers and found that patients

medications were less likely to miss doses.
