Dispose of a Cell Phone |
Most of us know when to discard, recycle, or compost
the items we're parting with, but it seems that many
of us are at a loss as to how to dispose properly
of our cell phones when we no longer need them. If
you are unsure of how to get rid of an old phone,
this article will guide you through the process.
Before actually disposing of your phone, it is important
to remove your information from it, as phones tend
to allow access to sensitive, personal information.
The easiest way to rid your phone of this information
is to perform a factory reset. If you wish to transfer
information from the old device to your new phone,
simply do so before clearing the old one.

07/24/2014 How to
Recover Deleted Texts on Android Phone |
If you have accidentally deleted some
or all of your text messages by mistake, fret not!
You can get them back with a 99% chance of success,
but there' is one ingredient that is most important:
time! If you have deleted your SMS inbox you have
to act quick, because while the messages are recoverable
until the portion of memory on which they are saved
is rewritten, the longer you wait the higher the likelihood
of getting new text messages, app updates or who-knows-what
saved to the same location, obliterating them forever.

Texting Improve Parenting? |

to your baby or suggesting a game to play with your
toddler, might it help to better prepare your child
for school? That is the premise of Parent University,

Northwestern University. The goal of the program is
to help parents to create a literacy-rich environment

Becoming Part of War |
On the same morning that the Israeli military dropped
thousands of leaflets on residents in the northern
Gaza Strip warning them of an impending military strike
and urging them to leave their homes, thousands of
Israelis in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and elsewhere received
on their smartphones what initially appeared to be
official text messages. First, they warned residents
to stay close to bomb shelters, indicating an impending
rocket attack from Gaza, and then they warned of suicide
bombers who may have infiltrated the public shelters.

07/07/2014 What is
Load Balancing? |
PageGate has a new Load Balancer module that enables
installations with multiple PageGate Servers running,
a way to route new messages between servers, depending
on each servers real-time performance.
The PageGate Load Balancer module receives performance
data from multiple running PageGate Servers, to determine
the best server to route new messages to.
Each Load Balancer module can support between two
and four PageGate servers.
Each PageGate Server can send performance data to
up to four Load Balancer modules.
The Load Balancer module acts primarily as a router
for messages coming into PageGate's GetASCII interface.
However, other interfaces can be used by using a primary
PageGate Server to accept messages, and then using
the Load Balancer to route messages to secondary PageGate
Servers, that will handle message delivery (this setup
would require a minimum of three PageGate Servers).

May Help Diabetics |
Findings from the Dulce Digital study suggest that
a text message-based self-management intervention
improves glycemic control in high risk Latinos with
type 2 diabetes.
Researchers recruited 126 Latinos with type 2 diabetes
and HbA1c greater than 7.5% from federally-qualified
health centers (FQHCs) that serve disadvantaged populations
to investigate the impact of a diabetes self-management
intervention delivered via mobile text messaging.
Cell phones were provided to patients who did not
have them, along with text messaging instructions.

07/01/2014 How Text
Messaging Is Helping Victims Of Violence |
When a young Malaysian woman, Xin-Ci Chin, was attacked
by two men as she entered her car in Kuala Lumpur
two years ago, she barely escaped an unknown fate
by fighting her abductors and jumping from a moving
vehicle.
The episode, which she detailed in a harrowing Facebook
post, had a silver lining. At a point in her career
where she was looking for new opportunities anyway,
it led her to team with a friend, James Khoo, and
create a simple but ingenious app that could help
other women in the same situation.
Since launching a year ago on iOS and Android, Watch
Over Me has attracted 140,000 users all over the world,
with the majority so far located in Southeast Asia.

Is Not Ruining Grammar |
It is not surprising that many teachers, parents,
and young people themselves feel concerned about this
constant exposure to non-standard written English.
It seems quite plausible that frequently seeing to
- too written as 2, or people written as ppl, might
mean that these kinds of spellings could start to
creep into students formal writing.
Fortunately, in recent years, the research has returned
a fairly robust conclusion.
