05/31/2012 Going
Green Saves Green! |
Businesses that are going green are becoming
more and more commonplace. Regardless of your political
beliefs or opinions regarding the global warming
concept, few can argue that being environmentally
aware will leave the world a better place. Whether
a company is simply jumping on the green bandwagon,
or are honestly sensitive about environmental issues
is really irrelevant. Consumers like green businesses,
and shaping your business to promote being eco-friendly
makes sense from a public relations standpoint.

05/30/2012 Disposing
of Old Cell Phones |
Cellular phones and other mobile devices often contain
toxic materials that can pollute the environment.
The chemicals contained in the cell phones and electronics
are harmful to the health of both humans and animals.
Cell phones and their accessories contain a large
number of hazardous substances known as Persistent,
Bioaccumulative, and Toxic Chemicals. Some of the
chemicals contained in the PBTs have been known to
cause damage to nervous systems, reproductive systems,
and developmental systems, as well as causing cancer.
When recycled properly, the materials can be put back
into circulation, reducing the health risks to the
community. The materials that are contained in old
cell phones can often be recycled and reused to make
a variety of other products. Additionally, in order
to comply with environmental protection regulations,
many countries have very specific requirements and
methods for disposing of cell phones, batteries, and
other toxic items. Rather than wrestling with disposal
guidelines yourself, it is often much easier to just
sell or donate old cell phones to a company qualified
to recycle them.

05/29/2012 Texting
While Driving Not Going Away |
An online survey of 1,300 teen drivers with cellphones,
scheduled for release Monday, found that even though
their parents may warn them against it, most of those
interviewed said adult drivers send text messages
all the time.
A sizable proportion of the teens in the study also
admitted to engaging in the same dangerous practice.
About the same number who said they saw their parents
do it admitted to doing it themselves.
The new data — released as part of an effort by
AT&T to combat distracted driving — conform
with some of the work done by the Pew Research Center,
which conducted surveys and focus groups two years
ago with teenagers about smartphones.

Cell Phones |
Technological advancements providing users with improved
reception through integrated antenna systems, reduced
size and weight of cell phones, along with numerous
feature sets, and storage improvements have caused
the bulk of cellular phone users and enthusiasts to
upgrade to new and improved handsets. The low cost
of cell phones and the added technological improvements
mean that the majority of cellular phone users are
on their 2nd or 3rd generation hand set.

Not too long ago, a colleague asked me why we invest
so heavily in consumer education. We have made a conscious
decision to spend marketing dollars on consumer education
for a very simple reason. Educated consumers are simply
better customers.
Lets take a closer look at why educated consumers
are better customers.

Ban on Unsolicited Text Messages |
An Assembly committee on Thursday approved a bill
designed to ban unsolicited text message advertising
in New Jersey, and its sponsor says he believes it
has a good chance of becoming law.
The Assembly Consumer Affairs Committee on Thursday
amended the measure to broaden it from a 2010 version,
which banned messages that would cause a charge or
usage deduction. That was unanimously passed by the
Assembly but stalled in the Senate.
The new legislation would ban messages that may cause
a charge or deduction, a change its sponsor believes
effectively bans all unsolicited text message ads
received in the state. It now goes to the full Assembly
for a vote.
