Hi, Okay thanks.
How do I specify recipients? Like how do I say send messages to mobile +267 76582145 for example.
I also don't understand the carriers part what are those and how do I know which carrier to use in Botswana?

Hi, okay I managed to figure out where I specify the recipients but I cant add them, when I try Recipients- Add I get the error in qoutes "At least One Carrier Must Be Created."
If I could maybe get a clear understanding of what the carrier is and how/where I could get a carrier address I should be able close this case.

Hi Aaron
I am not winning with this, i am having trouble understanding the carriers part, how to setup recipients.
Maybe I dont understand the whole carrier concept if maybe you could explain to me what a carrier is then I would be able to set that up correctly.
Because now when enabling the alerts on Solarwinds console when I get to the part where I specify who should receive this smses thats where i get stack. That field is blank and I think its because it wasn't setup properly from the PageGate Admin.
The previous videos you sent didnt really go into detail on what is required under carriers, where we supposed to specify the cellphone numbers

The Carriers in PageGate effectively tell the program how to talk to the outside world. So, for example, let tells PageGate how to talk to Verizon when a text message needs to be sent to a Verizon phone or how to talk to AT&T when an SMS needs to be sent to an AT&T phone.
So, you've mentioned you wanted to send SMS. What region of the world are you in and what carriers do your recipients use? |

-Orange
-Mascom
-Be Mobile

Hm... to my knowledge, the best way to send SMS to African carriers is by use of a cellular modem. A cellular modem is a device that provides a cellular connection to a system. PageGate can use this device to send (and receive) SMS messages just like a cell phone does.
Multitech's MTC-H5 and rCell 100 series are examples of these types of device
So, once you have a cellular modem, we could use that device to send SMS directly. |

Dear Techsupport,
I am trying to integrate Solarwinds with NotePagePro to receive mobile based SMS alerts.
I am from Mumbai, India. We are using Vodafone, Idea and Reliance Jio mobile networks. Please guide us how to setup NotePagePro.
Regards
Sandesh

Sandesh,
Based on where you are in the world, you'll need to use cellular hardware (either a cellular modem or gateway) with our software to send your SMS.
Good examples of cellular modems are:
•Multitech's MTC-H5
•US Robotics' USR3500
•Microhard's IP4NG
•Cradlepoint's IBR650
•AirPrime 73xx and 75xx
•Skyus-DS
Cellular routers and gateways can be accessed by TCP, so you don't have to connect them to PageGate PC; they just need to be connected to your network and configured appropriately to receive messaging commands.
Good examples of cellular routers/gateways are:
•Multitech's MTR-LVW2 and MTR-LAT1
•Airlink's GX450 and RV50
•Microhard IP4nGii
•Cradlepoint's IBR650
•Cisco 819G
•ConiuGo GmbH 700600150S
•ConiuGo GmbH 700600160S
•ConiuGo GmbH 700600170S
Also, while both NotePager Pro and PageGate can integrate with the Solarwinds Orion Platform to send alerts, there are a few major differences between the two programs.
Primarily, NotePager Pro is a single PC application and cannot run as a Windows service, which makes the program logon dependent. Alternatively, PageGate was written with server functions in mind and can run as a Windows service, which means it isn't logon dependent.
If you integrate NotePager Pro with the Solarwinds platform, we recommend that you leave a user logged in to the desktop of the system running NotePager Pro. If a user is not logged in to the system, NotePager Pro may not be able to function appropriately and process the alerts from the Solarwinds platform.
Due to this, we absolutely recommend using PageGate instead of NotePager Pro to integrate with Solarwinds.
