How to Integrate NetIQ with PageGate

Integrating NetIQ with PageGate

Send Text and SMS Messages from NetIQ

Integrating NetIQ with PageGate

NetIQ can integrate with NotePage Inc.'s PageGate application to add the ability to send alerts to wireless messaging devices (pagers, mobile phones, pims, etc.).

Steps for integration:

NetIQ loads a file, "netiqpage.ini", to the Windows root directory during installation. This file can be modified to reference and work with recipients/groups from a preconfigured installation of PageGate with the Commandline / Ascii Interface (GetAscii).

In the "netiqpage.ini" file under "[system]", the location to PageGate's commandline interface (sendpage32.exe) is defined. The directory should match GetAscii "Polling Directory" set in PageGate Admin under 'Interfaces' - 'GetAscii' - 'Settings'.

;;
;; sample netiqpage.ini file
;; [system]
;;
;; first %s is target_name [target]
;; second %s is additional parameters [param]
;; third %s is the message
;;
;; notepage=D:\PageGate\Poll\sendpage32.exe -dir=d:\PageGate\Poll %s %s %s ********************************************

In order for NetIQ to provide this paging functionality, the path to the "SendPage32.exe" and the appropriate recipients and/or groups (predefined within PageGate) must be defined within the "netiqpage.ini", and a NetIQ job "page-action" must be assigned.

NetIQ then makes use of PageGate through paging 'actions,' which are assigned to NetIQ job events.

For example, a page action can be assigned to a memory utilization job. When a server running this job has a memory problem, an event is generated. This event will trigger the "page-action". A message is then sent, using "sendpage32.exe". PageGate w/GetAscii receives the message and sends it to the recipients/groups (referenced in the action properties for the associated job) and predefined in PageGate and the "netiqpage.ini" file.

In the example from "netiqpage.ini" below, the values listed after "target1=" are recipients or groups defined in PageGate. ********************************************
