PageGate can be easily integrated with Netic's TrapSnap by using the GetAscii module.
TrapSnap can be configured to execute an external program when certain SNMP traps are received, which means you will need to create a directory for the integration to reference.
If PageGate is installed on the TrapSnap server, we recommend creating c:\PageGateData\Ascii\. If PageGate is not installed on the TrapSnap server, be sure to share the integration directory on the network so the PageGate and Navicare systems both have administrative access/control.
1) Open the PageGate Admin.
2) Go to Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings.
3) Set the "Polling Directory" to the integration directory you've created (see above).
Note: If you set the Polling Directory to a shared network (UNC) path, be sure to provide the PageGate GetAscii windows service with the appropriate logon credentials to access the network data.
4) Check Enabled.
5) Click on Apply.
5a) When prompted, you do want this enabled for all existing groups and recipients.
When configuring the "Logging Traps" function in TrapSnap, you will need to tell TrapSnap where to pass the information to as well as what information to pass. The command line should be formatted as follows:
<Integration Directory>\sendpage32.exe <recipient or group> <sender> <message>
c:\PageGateData\Ascii\sendpage32.exe ITDept TrapSnap IP: %s corresponding to TrapNumber %n and Enterprise Number %E has entered a fault state
That would send a message to the group named ITDept from the sender TrapSnap and the message would say "IP: 127.0.0.1 corresponding to TrapNumber 12 and Enterprise Number 372a has entered a fault state"
