Integrate with Existing Applications

Integration with IP Tools Advanced Host Monitor

PageGate can be easily integrated with IP Tools' Advanced Host Monitor by using the GetAscii module. When you configure an alert in Advanced Host Monitor, you can configure an "Execute external program" trigger action to pass alerts to PageGate for delivery.

You will need to create a directory for the integration to reference. If PageGate is installed on the Advanced Host Monitor server, we recommend creating c:\PageGateData\Ascii\. If PageGate is not installed on the same server, share the integration directory on the network so both systems have administrative access.

Configure PageGate's GetAscii Interface

  1. Open the PageGate Admin.
  2. Go to Interfaces — GetAscii — Settings.
  3. Set the Polling Directory to the integration directory you created (e.g., c:\PageGateData\Ascii\).
If you set the Polling Directory to a shared network (UNC) path, be sure to provide the PageGate GetAscii Windows service with the appropriate logon credentials to access the network data.
  4. Check Enabled.
  5. Click Apply. When prompted, you do want this enabled for all existing groups and recipients.

Configure Advanced Host Monitor Alert Action

When configuring your "Execute external program" action, call PageGate's GetAscii module using this format:

<Integration Directory>\sendpage32.exe <recipient> <sender> <message with Advanced Host Monitor variables>

For example, to send to group ITDept from sender HostMonitor:

c:\PageGateData\Ascii\sendpage32.exe ITDept HostMonitor Host %HostName% is %StatusText%

Return to Integration Directory
