Have you verified with Consolidated that that particular device (ID) has been configured on their end to accept messages via SNPP?_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Additionally, I've never seen a SNPP capable carrier with a hostname "mail.xyz.com" - I'd expect something more like "snpp.xyz.com/444" - you may want to verify with Consolidated that you're using the proper host as well_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

I just spoke with someone in "Customer Service (?)" at Consolidatred who had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned SNPP - when I tried to explain - she advised that "...you'll have to call back tomorrow - the paging department is closed today..." - go figure. I'd be willing to bet that they DON'T support SNPP

This is what I got from their Sales Rep
Tim,
Our system supports SMTP, SNPP, WCTP protocols..we suggest you use SNPP it
seems to work faster....
Protocol SNPP
Server mail.cpaging.com
port 444
pager id (last 7 digits of the pager number) example 800 412
1234 pager id=4121234
Max Character per page 250
System Time Out 30 Seconds (the page should actually process in a
few seconds, if you reach the time-out something is wrong)
Protocol SMTP
Server mail.cpaging.com
port 25
pager id (last 7 digits of the pager number) example 800 412
1234 pager id=4121234
Max Character per page 250
System Time Out 30 Seconds (the page should actually process in a
few seconds, if you reach the time-out something is wrong)
Pager Email Address (last 7 digits of the pager number @cpaging.com or
@cpaging.net
Let me know if you have any other questions....thanks for letting us
provide paging services for your Hospital.

I have tried all the protocols that he had listed, but I can only get the SMTP to work.
I also installed the software they provided and set it up to send a message using SNPP, and it still didn't work.
Thanks

Thanks for the update - now you need to ensure that your device is SNPP enabled on their end (usually a couple of software toggled in their CRM software - don't be surprised if it is not activated by default) - (darned salesmen!) (-;_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

I sent a test message from here, and it seemed to go through fine.
You might want to check with your computer/network guys to be sure that port 444 isn't being blocked by a firewall, for outbout traffic.
A simple test to see if port 444 is blocked on your computer is to get out to a Command Prompt (DOS prompt) and type this:
telnet mail.cpaging.com 444
You should get a response back with something like this:
220 IPT Gateway v1.0 ready
If not, then port 444 on your internet connection is blocked.

I tested this morning with the software from consolidated using INFORAD. I successfully sent a message using SNPP to my pager.
I tried again with the Pagegate, but it is still failing.
Thanks,

In PG Admin, go down to 'Logging' -> 'Settings' and make sure the 'Log to Disk' and 'Detailed Log' are both checked.
Send a test page, and then post the end of your PGDial1.log file where it tries to send that message. I bet there are some clues there as to what the problem is.
