I have a client running PageGate version 5.x
When I change the SENDER to a static entry messages continue to go out with whatever SENDER is entered at the time the message is created. I have edited the entry and saved the SENDER as "static". I have stopped and restarted all the PageGate services in Windows.

Ah, that changes things a bit. Which interface are you trying to set the static sender's name for? |

Ah, that's the correct behavior. The Static Sender in the GetAscii module only sets the Sender value for the GetAscii module. The same holds true for all of the Interfaces, their respective Static Sender values only hold that value for the Interface in question.
So, when the your users send messages, which interface are they using? |

I am not sure I understand "that's the correct behavior". So the does the static entry in the GetAscii interface "not" strip out the user entered SENDER and replace it with the static SENDER?

That depends on how you're sending your messages. If the messages are being sent from the PageGate Client on your workstations, the Static Sender value for the GetAscii module will not override the Sender value specified in the client. The Senders names are unique to each module.
So, how do your people send your messages? Do you integrate PageGate with a CAD system, for example, or do your users use the PageGate Client on their workstations? |

Thank you for the update. This system's PageGate is getting most of the GetAscii messages sent out from an integrated CAD system. They do also use their client workstations to send out individual messages as well. I can let the admin there know that he has to set a static sender on his workstations as well for the individual messaging.
I am migrating them to a new physical server today. I will update you on the status of the static sender after the migration is completed.

The PageGate Client has its own Sender's value that will need to be set. All you'll need to do is open the Client, go to File - Setup and you'll see the Sender's Name field. |
