|
|
Hello,
I was hoping someone could clear this up for me before I order. I have 2 sites both with a local NPM installation I want to alert from PageGate on both sites with the alternate site as a failover should the Mobile Carrier be down at one of the sites. From my understanding I need the following -
2x 10 PageGate License (as both would be active)
2x Commandline/Ascii Interface (needed for NPM / syslog)
2x GUI Interface (is this different from the PG Admin RC -> Send to recipient?)
2x Priority Support
Many Thanks,
Peter

Since both PageGate programs will be active, a quantity of 2 items are needed. Pricing for each of the main PageGate software is a one-time charge for a Recipient License. PageGate's 10 Recipient License will register the software for up to 10 mobile phones, smartphones, pagers, etc.
The GUI Interface is different from the PG Admin module or Additional PG Admin module. PageGate's GUI Client Interface is for manually sending messages from network computers via your PageGate server, and not used for administering PageGate.
Commandline/Ascii Interface is needed for NPM / syslog. PageGate's front-end Interfaces and add-ons are priced individually.
Each PageGate includes one Connector module for output using a modem or internet connection. Up to 15 Additional Connectors (for multiple modems) are priced separately.
Priority Support (per year, per PageGate): http://www.notepage.net/priority-support.htm
Pricing: http://www.notepage.net/pricing.htm
Download a free trial of PageGate software with the Interfaces: http://www.notepage.net/software.htm

Hi,
Thats great thanks, I think when I saw failover it meant to another server but I believe this to now be failover recipient.
Thanks!

If you would, explain a little more as to what you're referring to here? Are you wanting NPM to issue messaging commands from one server to a different server or are you wanting one PageGate to tell the other PageGate to send messages? Or are you wanting to do something different, like having one entire server fail over to the other entire server? |

I'll try and explain a little better
Lets say we have the following (all using USB dongles)
ServerA (for SiteA) and ServerB (for SiteB) both have notepage installations and both have USB GSM dongles.
ServerA tries to message user_1 via GetAscii but the dongle doesnt respond (faulty/unplugged/no signal) it therefore contacts ServerB and sends the message via its dongle.
I guess you could add an additional dongle into ServerA I guess but we need ServerB in SiteB for DR purpose if ServerA was totally down.

Okay, in that case, you'll need to set up a way for Server A to pass messages to Server B. To know which method is going to be the most efficient, are both servers going to be on the same network or are they going to be on separate networks? |

The are on seperate subnets with a 100mbit point to point between them. As we have the GetAscii, could I create a hidden share for the GetAscii folder that is only permissioned for ServerA and ServerB?

If you would, please email support at notepage dot com so we can discuss the different options available for a dual server failover system. |
