We currenltly run PageGate V5 on an XP Machine with a PCI-based modem - GVC SF-1156IV/R9E (Data-Fax-TAM-Speakerphone PCI). I'm looking for a low-profile voice modem that will work with Vista, in a smaller enclosure. I know WinModems aren't supported, but is there anything else I should look for chipset-wise? I believe the existing modem uses a conexant chipset.

Well, it isn't that WinModems aren't supported it's that they have trouble connecting to TAP terminals. It isn't impossible, just more difficult than a non-WinModem. My best recommendation would be to use a US Robotics external modem, preferrably something Serial rather than USB.

Well, one that's always worked well for me is the US Robotics Sportster 33.6

Just out of curiosity, do you use the GetTONE module for PageGate? If not, you wouldn't really need the voice capability on the modem.

Yeah, we do use that functionality. We tried several modems that would not respond to the "GetTouchTones" tones no matter what we did. The other issue is that our existing Vista boxes only have one external serial port, so we would need one internal and one external modem.

Right... in that case, unfortunately, I don't have any specific make/model of modem that I've used personally.

For others that use this GetTouchTones functionality, have you seen any trends in terms of modems used? We are dead in the water unless we find one we know absolutely works.
