|
|
I have serveral remote office location I load the computer from a install folder on my file server. The client loads ok then when I first start up the client I have to change the Pagegate path the location of the server. When my user go to start to open Pagegate it can take between 7 to 10 minutes before it will open. We have pagegate running a Wan network could this be a problem we have T-1 accross all the Wan.

Quite possibly. My one question is, are you access via IP or Machine name? Mapped drive or UNC path? |

Pagegate has a mapped drive to the server where is located.

Try switching the path to a UNC path using the IP address and see if it loads any faster. |

Hmm... I figured it might not take it quite as long if the system didn't have to do a name server lookup with the UNC path but if the mapped drive is faster, I suppose stay with that. To answer your question, I haven't seen a situation quite like this, where each location has a different subnet. Really, the client just accesses the database path in the same manner that any other Windows process (like the Windows Explorer) does. |

Does the drive mapping need to go all the way to the database ot just the Pagegate folder?

Either, really. As long as the 'database path' goes to the database, that's all that really matters. Of course, if the mapped drive association is directly to the database directory, that may save a second or two on your DNS lookups as the system tries to browse the network for the path. |
