Why is HIPAA Needed?

What is HITECH?

To ensure HIPAA compliance the US Government passed HITECH. The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. HITECH encouraged the adoption of Electronic Health Records and supporting technologies in the United States with 5 goals in mind.

The 5 goals of HITECH include:
