How to Configure FAX Carriers and Recipients in NotePager Pro Transcript for Video:
Welcome to the video tutorial on how to configure NotePager Pro to send faxes using a dial-up modem.

To send faxes directly from the NotePager Pro system, you’ll first need a fax capable dial-up modem. Once you have the modem connected to the computer and its driver is installed, Windows will assign it a COM port. To determine the COM port of your modem, you’ll want to go in to the Control Panel in Windows, then open ‘Phone and Modem’. Once there, go under the Modems tab and you’ll see a list of all available modems and their related COM ports.

Next, open NotePager Pro and go to the Tools – Settings – Connection section.

Specify the modem’s COM port in the ‘Modem Port’ field, then click Apply.

Now go to Carriers – Add.

Give the carrier a name, something straightforward like Fax or Faxing.

Change the Protocol to: FAX

Click Advanced.

Some receiving fax systems are quite picky about what class of handshaking they want and you can specify that value in the Fax Class field. If you’re unsure of what fax class to use, please contact the receiving fax system to ask them.

Leave the ‘Init String’ on auto to have NotePager Pro automatically detect the best initialization string to use with your modem and specified communication parameters. You can also manually enter or modify the init string by clicking inside the cursor and entering the appropriate values.

Leave Max Chars at 5000.

For more information about the ‘Priority’ value, have a look at the ‘Prioritizing Your Messages’ video tutorial.

When finished, click back, then click Apply.

Now we’ll need to create a recipient that tells the program what fax machine to dial. To do that, go to Recipients – Add.

Give the recipient a name, something like SouthFax or NorthOffice.

Set the ‘Carrier’ to your new faxing carrier.

In the Phone Number field, enter the phone number of the fax machine you want to dial.

When finished, click Apply and the specified fax will now be available to message.

This concludes the video tutorial on how to send faxes directly from NotePager Pro with a fax capable dial-up modem. For more information, including how to configure NotePager Pro to send faxes through a Microsoft Fax Server, please visit our website, www.notepage.net
