How to Send Email to Text Verizon
In the past Verizon had supported a public Email (SMTP) Gateway. Due to large volumes of spam through the gateway there have been indications that Verizon will be terminating and discontinuing support for their public SMTP (Email) gateway.
In fact Verizon began notifying their public safety customers that they had plans to discontinue support for the public Email-to-SMS system (vtext.com and vzwpix.com) as far back as the end of 2020. They encouraged all public safety organizations to register on Verizon's enterprise platform which is also referred to as Enterprise Messaging Access Gateway or EMAG for short. While some text messages may go through using SMTP delivery the indications are clear that Verizon has little interest for ongoing support for SMTP delivery due to the large volume of spam messages received through the public gateway.
If you are currently sending messages using the Verizon email to text gateway, by sending messages into phonenumber@vtext.com or phonenumber@vzwpix.com it is unlikely that it will remain a reliable method of sending text messages. This is especially true if you are sending a large volume of messages or have plans to pass a large volume of text messages to Verizon using this delivery method.
There are a variety of alternative and more reliable delivery methods. If you are using NotePage's software please contact us for details on alternative delivery options that are both supported by Verizon and significantly more reliable.
