Steps to Use Zenoss Resource Monitor with PageGate
First, we'll need to configure PageGate's GetASCII module so it can provide the command line executable to Resource Manager.
1) In Windows on the PageGate Server, create a new directory for the integration. We recommend creating a sub-directory of your PageGateData directory called 'Zenoss'. By default, c:\PageGateData\Zenoss\
2) Open the PageGate Admin.
3) Go to Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings.
4) Set the Polling Directory to the directory you created in step 1. By default, c:\PageGateData\Zenoss\
5) Check Enabled.
6) Click Apply.
6a) If prompted, you do want to enable this for all existing groups and recipients.
Now that we've made the executable available to Resource Manager, you can use their 'WinCommand' notification actions to pass alerts for delivery as SMS and updates to web APIs, among many options. For information on how to do that, have a look at the Resouce Manager documentation here:
https://www.zenoss.com/sites/default/files/zenoss-doc/5976/dox.platform.admin/using/notification-actions.html
The location of the executable is going to be the directory you created in step 1 above. By default, c:\PageGateData\Zenoss\
The executable's file name is sendpage32.exe and it will need three pieces of information: Who the message is intended to be delivered to, who or what sent the message and what the message should say.
The command arguments need to be formatted as follows:
c:\PageGateData\LogRhythm\senpage32.exe
<recipient or group><sender><message>
When configuring the WinCommand notification action, you'll want to enter the following into the Windows CMD Command field:
c:\PageGateData\Zenoss\senpage32.exe itadmins ResourceManager This is a test
Any and all Resource Manager variables can be used in the message statement.
