SolarWinds Server Alerts Monitor (SAM) Integration

Steps to Use SolarWinds Server Alerts Monitor with PageGate

Send Text and SMS Messages from SolarWinds Server Alerts Monitor
Follow these steps to use SolarWinds Server Alert Monitor (SAM) with PageGate
PageGate can be easily integrated with SolarWinds SAM (Server Alert Monitoring) by using the GetAscii module.

If PageGate is installed on the SolarWinds server, the 'Dial Page or SMS' trigger action in SAM looks at the Windows registry of the local server for specific entries that the GetAscii module provides.

If PageGate is not installed on the SolarWinds server, you can use the "Execute an external program" trigger action to pass alerts to the GetAscii module's command line executable.*

To start, you'll need to create a directory for the integration to reference. It can be any folder on any drive the PageGate server has access to. If PageGate is installed on the Solarwinds server, we recommend creating the following directory:
c:\PageGateData\Ascii\

1) Open the PageGate Admin.

2) Go to Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings.

3) Set the "Polling Directory" to the integration folder you created.

4) Check Enabled.

5) Click on Apply.
5a) When prompted, you do want to enable this for all existing groups and recipients.

*Here's how to configure an "Execute an external program" trigger action:
<Integration Directory>\sendpage32.exe<recipient><sender><message, including Solarwinds variables>

For example:
\\SAMServer\Integration\sendpage32.exe ITDept Orion Server <Orion hostname variable> is at <Orion CPU Time variable>
That would send a message to the recipient or group named ITDept from the sender Orion and the message would say "Server ExampleServer is at 95% CPU time"
