Send Text and SMS Messages from Microsoft Operations Manager
Follow these steps to use Microsoft Operation Manager (MOM)
PageGate can be easily integrated with Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 by using the GetAscii interface's command line integration.

The first step is to create a directory for the command line executable to reside within. If PageGate is installed on the MOM system, we recommend creating c:\PageGateData\MOM\. If PageGate is installed on a separate system, this can be a directory that you've shared on the MOM system or it can be a directory you've shared on the PageGate server for MOM to reference. However, if GetAscii will be referencing a network resource, you will need to provide a service account to the GetAscii Windows service to allow it permission to access the network location.

Once you have the directory created and accessible from both the PageGate and MOM systems, here's what you'lll need to do:

1) Open PG Admin.

2) Go to Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings.

3) Set the 'Polling Directory' to the directory you've just created and shared. By default, c:\PageGateData\MOM\

4) Check Enabled.

5) Click Apply.

6) When prompted, you do want this enabled for all recipients and groups.

Now that the command line executable is available, you'll need to create an alerting operator in MOM:

1) In the MOM Administrator Console, go to Action - Create Operator.

2) Give the operator a name, something straightforward like 'PageGate Alert' or 'SMS Alert'

3) Check Enabled.

4) Click Next.

5) Click Next to skip over the Email and Page sections.

6) Check 'Notify this operator by external command'

7) Enter the name you created in step 2 in the 'Operator ID' field.

8) Select 'Always notify by external command'

9) Click Finish to create the new operator.

Now that you have the new operator, you'll need to add it to a notification group. To do so:

1) In the MOM Administrator Console, on the left hand side, select: Notifications

2) Under Notifications, expand Notification Groups.

3) Select the Notification Group that should receive the SMS alerts.

4) Move the SMS Alert operator from the 'Available operators' list in to the 'Group operators' list.

5) Click OK.

Now we'll need to tell MOM what command(s) to pass to PageGate for alerting:

1) In the MOM Administrator Console, on the left hand side, select: Global Settings

2) On the right, double click on 'Notification Command Format'

3) The full path to application should be:

For example, if you're using c:\PageGateData\MOM\, your full path would be:
c:\PageGateData\MOM\sendpage32.exe

As another example, if you're using \\PGServer01\PageGateData\MOM\, your full path would be:
\\PGServer01\PageGateData\MOM\sendpage32.exe

4) The Command Line will need to be formatted as follows:
sendpage32.exe

For example, let's say we want to send a message to the IT_Alerts group from the sender MOM and that the message should say "Warning: Issue detected, $Alert Name$ - $Alert Description$". You would use this Command Line:

sendpage32.exe IT_Alerts MOM Warning: Issue detected, $Alert Name$ - $Alert Description$

5) Select the 'Security' tab.

6) Uncheck 'Disable execution of custom responses on Management Servers'

7) Click OK.

At this point, you should now be able to implement your new SMS Alerts notification system.
