I frequently am running into an issue with our GetMail piece of PageGate....about every day or two the Getmail piece receives emails being sent in but does not process them over to be sent out?? If I restart getmail/pgmailserver all is well and it catches up and sends out ...I am running version 4.0.0.96 as a service on a Win2003 Std server..i've been through changing how/who runs all services and DEP settings are set to allow. I also see alot of these messages in logs >> Warning. Unable to access database: Procedure: check_license. Retrying..

Please help....Thanks

My first recommendation would be to update to version 5 of PageGate as we've made several modifications and revisions to the GetMail module to make it a bit more stable and able to handle styles of formatting.

If, however, upgrading is not an option, that error message is quite odd. That message is basically saying that, for whatever reason, the program is unable to access its own database to check the license. Is the database hosted locally on the same system that PageGate runs on?

Upgrading is an option and will be doing so very soon...within the next 2 weeks....They system and DB are all on one server. We have a dedicated server just for PageGate. Although normal functions seem to work OK..we use the GetWeb piece primarily with a webpage throughout the organization for paging. A few other systems email into pagers to allow paging.

Thanks

PageGate can be upgraded from version 4 to the version 5 for $100.00. Optional are a PageGate v5 CD ($15.00) and Priority Support:
http://www.notepage.net/priority-support.htm

Download a free evaluation of PageGate v5 software (2 recipients enabled and restart every 3-5 days), upgrade instructions and new features at http://www.notepage.net/pagegate-v5.htm

The upgraded v5 electronic Registration Key is needed to fully register PageGate v5 software.

Let's give this a try:

1) Make a backup copy of your c:\program files\pagegate\pagegate.mdb file - this file contains all of your registration, carrier, recipient, mailbox, and connectors information.

2) Make a backup copy of the c:\program files\pagegate\mailboxes\ directory, if it exists.

3) Download the last build of Version 4 that was released:

http://www.notepage.net/download/pgv4.0.9.exe

4) Shut PageGate down. Make sure that the system services are stopped, close the Admin, close the Monitor, and make sure nothing regarding PageGate is still running.

5) Uninstall PageGate. When prompted, select the full uninstall option.

6) Once the full uninstallation of Pagegate is complete, reboot the computer.

7) After the computer has been rebooted, manually browse to the c:\program files\ directory and if the PageGate directory still exists, delete it.

8) Use the pgv4.exe file you downloaded in step 3 to install the latest build of PageGate (select the PageGate Server option when prompted).

9) Now that we've got PageGate reinstalled, run the Admin.

10) Ignore the dialog that pops up, just click on Apply. It will tell you a new database has been created and PAgeGate must be restarted.

11) BEFORE you run the Admin again, take that copy of the pagegate.mdb file you made in step 1 and copy it back into the c:\program files\pagegate directory.

12) It'll ask if you want to overwrite the file, say yes.

13) If any of your recipients use mailboxes, restore the Mailboxes directory that you backed up in step 2.

14) Run the PageGate Admin again. Everything should be there (carriers, recipients, connector information, registration, all of it).

15) The last thing is to go to Program - Settings in the PageGate Admin and switch it to have PageGate run as a Windows NT service.

16) Once PageGate has been switched to run as a Service, left click once on the icon of the pager in your system tray and tell it to start.

After you do that, do this:

1) Go to the Services list in the Administrative Tools.

2) Right click on the PGMailserver service and left click on Stop.

3) Go to Start - Run.

4) Type the following and click on OK: command

5) In the command prompt, you'll need to change directories to whatever directory you installed PageGate to.

6) Once there, type the following and hit enter:

pgmailserver /uninstall

7) Refresh the Services list in Windows and make sure that the PGMailServer has been removed.

8) Once it has been removed, run this command:

pgmailserver /reinstall

9) After you do that, the service should be back. Reboot the system.

Once the system comes back up, you should be good to go but if that doesn't fix it, let us know.

Do you know approximately when PageGate was originally purchased, or how long you're organization has been using the software?

If purchased in 2004 or so there is a minimum charge of $100.00 to upgrade PageGate software version 4 to version 5. Optional are a PageGate v5 CD ($15.00) and Priority Support: http://www.notepage.net/priority-support.htm

Upgrade PageGate by faxing a US purchase order, signed and dated on your organization's letterhead, to NotePage, Inc. at 781-829-0419. Prepay with a credit card by calling NotePage Sales at 781-829-0500, or online at http://www.notepage.net/upgrade-order-forms.htm

PageGate's 4-6 digit Serial Number is needed to upgrade the software. This is located in the PageGate Admin module's Registration screen (upper right side).

The upgraded electronic PageGate v5 Registration Key is emailed within 24 hours of ordering. If ordered, a PageGate v5 CD is shipped by regular mail.

The currently registered Pager License and Interfaces do not need to be purchased again.
