I have NotePager Pro installed and am trying to setup the configuration so that I can send SMS messages to cell phones. I am using ATT TAP and it seems like I get connected, but nothing ever sends. I do get an error of <NO CARRIER>. Am I using the wrong number or is TAP not supported anymore?

ATT requires that the receiving device be subscribed to "Enterprise Paging" (at about $10/mth/phone) in order to reliably accept TAP messages. An alternative (but not as reliable) is to use SMTP (10digit#@txt.att.net) or connect a cellular modem to your PC and pump the messages as true SMS messages

That's... only really partly true. If you use the "Cingular" TAP Terminal, it goes through just fine most of the time. Try using the TAP number 18009094602 with a baud rate of 1200, even parity, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit. If you can't get it to go through that terminal, you may want to take OzCom's advice and send via SMTP or GSM.

Ok got a little further. I tried the new number and it looks like I am now connected and trying to send the message, but it still fails, but with a different error:

Hmm... that means that the TAP Terminal doesn't recognize the phone number you're trying to pass to it. I was speaking with OzCom earlier today and I didn't realize that the TAP number I gave you was mostly for legacy devices (phones from before their recent mergers), so that may be way. SMTP may be a better way to get your messages out.
