Hi,

We've been using pagegate for many years with 16 dialers and it works very well. We are now trying to install a GSM modem. We started with a Nokia N95, PC suite installed, Modem installed correctly and able to query modem from windows diagnosis modem page. We are also capable of sending text messages from the Nokia PC Suite, so this tells me the modem is installed correctly.

My port is com11 and configured correctly in Pagegate.
When sending a message, I get this message: Unable to access modem.

I didn't put any init string. My modem settings are N-8-1 9600, in the modem settingsas well as in pagegate.

We tried with Nokia PC suite running and Nokia PC suite closed with the same results.

Can you help us?

Just to double check, you ran the Nokia suite and the Nokia suite said that it couldn't access the GSM modem?

'Unable to access modem' is the error message in the
Pagegate Dialer window, sorry for that.

Without looking at the debug level logs, it sounds like the N95 is not responding to the AT command set over the COM port

Ok, I'm still having problems with the GSM AT wireless modem.

The modem is installed correctly and PG is able to reset modem and to send carrier init string but just after this step, PG logs: unable to enter text delivery mode.

Does anyone have a clue?

Since PG is able to reset the modem but you get a "unable to enter text delivery mode" - that tells me that your carrier has restricted access to that feature on that particular device. Try this: use control panel to find new hardware and let Windows discover and install the cellular device as a modem (I had the same issue you describe with a Nokia 6800 - when I followed the suggested path - it worked fine with PageGate as a GSM device)

Thanks Aaron, but windows doesn't find it automatically I have to installe manually, it doesn't seem to be plug-and-play, it's an airlink C3111.

Would I be better with Pagegate 5?

Try this:

Plug the device in
Use Add new hardware function of windows
select "Add manually"
Point to the Nokia Cd for the driver file

The problem you're having is that the PCSuite from Nokia assumes that it is the only package allowed to force the modem into text entry mode.

We have had 100% success by using the MultiTech line of cellular modems. Contact me offline for details
