Messages not being split

We have started sending SMTP messages to our users with text enabled cell phones. However, our carrier (Sprint) says their network will only accept text messages upto 160 characters. I've reset my carrier and my recipient in PageGate v4.0 to 150 characters (allow for header info). However, I sent a test message and it was cut off instead of split into two messages. My logs show only one message was sent. I also have my messages copied to my email address and I received the full message in my email.

In order for the program to split the messages, you need to have the recipient character limit set higher than the carrier character limit. The carrier character limit determines how many characters can be contained in any one SMS message, the recipient character limit determines how many characters will be accpted from the GUI Client or other incoming message method.

Updating my Carrier works great except for one problem. The program automatically changed each of the Recipients associated with that Carrier to the same number of characters. Is there a way to keep the system from updating this information unless you ask it to?
