I'm trying to rid myself of my old pager and want to simply text message my cell phone, is it simply a case of inserting my cell phone number in place of my pager number?

Sure, all you have to do is configure a new carrier in the Program for your Cel phone's carrier. Once you've done that, set your former pager recipient to use the new carrier and input your cel phone's number in the ID/PIN or E-Mail to field.

If you'll let us know which carrier your cel phone uses, I'll post more detailed instructions.

To configure NotePager Pro to send out pages to Bell cel phones, here's what you'll want to do:

1) Left click on the Carriers menu.

2) Left click on Add.

3) Name the carrier: Bell

4) Change the Protocol to: SMTP

5) Your Local Domain needs to be set to the latter half of your email address.

6) Enter in your Primary DNS into DNS Server 1 and your Secondary DNS into DNS Server 2. If you're not sure what either of these are, please contact your internet service provider or network admin and ask them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Now that the Carrier has been added, left click on Recipients.

2) Left click on Add.

3) You can name the recipient whatever you like.

4) The Type should be normal and change the Carrier to Bell Mobility

5) In the "Email To" field, enter phonenumber@txt.bell.ca

6) Make sure that Alpha and Drop non-printable characters are cheked.

7) Click on Apply.

I tried, no luck. The office currently has a paging system with rogers, am I still able to send a message to bell, via rogers? ie should the local domain be paging.rogers.com? I think it is sending the message to rogers and it isn't working. What should I try?

It's possible that your ISP has the standard SMTP port (port 25) closed, in which case you would need their relay server.

What you may want to do is contact your ISP and ask them what theire relay server is. Once you have that, go back to Carriers - Edit, highlight Bell and click on Edit.

Set it to the second option "Deliver through local email server" and type in whatever they gave you for the relay server.

Click on apply and try to send your messages.
