Does anyone have any updates on sending a text message to a T-Mobile phone? All the numbers listed are not working for me? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Howser

Unfortunately, T-Mobile has deactivated all of the TAP Terminals that we knew of. It's possible that they could have other TAP Terminals out there but you'd need to contact the carrier's tech support and ask them.

The other option for SMS Delivery, though, is the one online protocol that T-Mobile does support, the SMTP.

SMTP is the most widely supported of the three online protocols, so here's how to configure an SMTP Carrier in NotePager Pro:

1) Left click on the Carriers menu.

2) Left click on Add.

3) Name the carrier: SMTP

4) Change the Protocol to: SMTP

5) Your Local Domain needs to be set to the latter half of your email address.

6) Enter in your Primary DNS into DNS Server 1 and your Secondary DNS into DNS Server 2. If you're not sure what either of these are, please contact your internet service provider or network admin and ask them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Now that the Carrier has been added, left click on Recipients.

2) Left click on Add.

3) You can name the recipient whatever you like.

4) The Type should be normal and change the Carrier to SMTP.

5) In the "Email To" field, enter the email address for a phone, pager, or just a regular email address (like support@notepage.com). If you're not sure what your device's email address is, we do keep a current list of email suffixes for the various carriers here: http://www.notepage.net/smtp.htm

T-Mobile's is: <10digitcelnumber>@tmomail.net

6) Make sure that Alpha and Drop non-printable characters are cheked.

7) Click on Apply.

Do you know of another way-- for T-Mobile
I have tried to use the SMTP- then I tried these steps and apparently we can't can't make direct outbound connections using SMTP.

The first step is to verify that you can connect to a know SMTP server from your computer. If you have NotePager Pro setup to deliver messages directly to the destination mail server, you should be able to successfully following these steps.

1. Get to a DOS or Command prompt
1a. In Windows 95, 98, or ME hit 'Start' -> 'Programs' -> 'MS-Dos Prompt'
1b. In Windows NT hit 'Start' -> 'Programs' -> 'Command Prompt'
1c. In Windows 2000, XP hit 'Start' -> 'Programs' -> 'Accessories' -> 'Command Prompt'

2. Type 'telnet notepage.net 25 <CR>' (don't include the quotes, <CR> is the Enter key, there is a space before 'notepage.net' and before '25')

3a. In Windows 95, 98, ME, and NT you will get a Telnet window
3b. in Windows 2000 and XP the telnet session will run in the DOS window

4. You should receive a line of data that begins with the number 220.
4a. If you do, then NotePager Pro can make outbound connections using SMTP
4b. If you don't, then your computer can't make direct outbound connections using SMTP. This is usually because either you aren't connected to the Internet, or you are behind some sort of firewall that is blocking outbound sessions on port 25. In either case, try setting up NotePager Pro to deliver messages through a local email server (SMTP relay server).

I had the same issue with T-Mobile in regards to the original post. I contacted Tech Support and they were unable to help, let alone understand what TAP was.
They suggested that I fax the issue to their Customer Relations department at 1-813-353-6545. I will attempt this tomorrow and see what happens.

As far as settting up via SMTP, I followed the steps provided. When I sent a test message, it listed it as Bad. I received the Hello and Please to meet you, but it stated User address required and closed the connection.

User address is 10digit#@tmomail.net

TMobile usually requires that their subscriber specifically requests that the phone's email address be activated (read: more$) before they will pass SMTP messages through
