Is there any way to enable Pagegate to accept email for an alias which is different from the hostname? Meaning server accepts email for both recipient@pagegate1.umcaz.edu and recipient@epage.umcaz.edu.

This may get a little convoluted, so bear with me.

It entirely depends on the situation in which you mean your question.

For example, if you want PageGate to check the email addresses for both, you can set that up rather easily.

If you mean, can PageGate host pagegate1.umcaz.edu AND epage.umcaz.edu - no, that can't be done.

I need to know a little more information on how you mean the question before I can let you know for sure.

If a server has the name "pagegate1" then the software will accept email to recipientX@pagegate1. I want the server too also accept email for recipientX@epage. Hope this helps clarify my problem.

Again, it depends on the way you want to do it.

You can have PageGate check an email address called RecipientX@epage if RecipientX@epage is an email address that exists... but I wonder if I'm not misunderstanding what you want.

Some background. I have a rather large list of text pager addresses in the global address book of Microsoft Exchange but they have the format of user@epage.umcaz.edu. The Pagegate address is user@pagegate1.umcaz.edu. Is there anyway that I can retain the old address and when it reaches Pagegate, have it alias to the new one?
The other part of the question concerns my two servers. The normal email address is user@pagegate1.umcaz.edu. The secondary server address is user@pagegate2.umcaz.edu. In case pagegate1 goes down and I have to use pagegate2 can I setup Pagegate to send mail to pagegate2? In the recipient setting there is an entry for a relay server. Help indicates that if the “Relay All Mail” box is not checked but a server name is entered in the “Relay Server” box then undeliverable mail will go to that server. Is this a possible solution to my second problem?
Thank you for being patient. I seem to be having a problem explaining this one.

There is a solution to the first part. You can create a file named 'DomainAliases' (no extension) in the PageGate database folder and list additional domain names that you want PageGate to accept mail for (each on their own line).

If I understand what you want to do with the second part, you want to be able to address messages to user@pagegate2.umcaz.edu and user@pagegate1.umcaz.edu, and have both servers accept the messages (I'm assuming you have two PageGate servers). If that is the case you could put both domains into the aliases files mentioned above, and that should work.
