I am trying to run PG Admin from a workstation instead of the server and I receive an error message. The message is: Excessive database errors: 3051. It's telling me that the database is opened exclusively by another user or I need permission to view the data.
I have mapped a drive to the data and I have given the users of the server all the permissions I can think of. The database does not have any restrictive security and PG Admin is not running on the server at the time I am accessing data from the workstation. The other way I tried to run PG Admin is by navigating to the directory where the executable exists with the same result. The way I can run it is to use remote desktop and run from the tray icon. I’m sure I am overlooking something obvious. Thank you for your help.

Have you done the "Additional Admin" installation on the workstation or are you trying to run the executable from the remote location?

Yes. I have done the "Additional Admin" installation. I have also tried to run the executable from the remote location. Same result in both cases.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if you use the UNC path (\\servername\directory\) instead of the mapped path?

I just removed PG Admin and reinstalled it using "\\server\directory" with the same results. By the way if the app dosn't start is there anyway to change the directory path without an uninstall and a reinstall. I also just realized that I never told you I was using version 5 bata.

It looks like something happened to my post and only a couple of words got through. I removed PG Admin and reinstalled it using "\\servername\directory". By the way, I just realized I never told you I was using version 5 bata.

I know this sounds simplistic (I have about 9 pgv5 installs in place and have seen this before) - have you powered the PC off and re-started? I believe there are some registry settings that may need to be cleared

When you did this, did it make a difference?

Sorry about the delayed answer but I've been out of the office.

As to the questions:
Yes to powering down without improvement.
No to did it make a difference.

The Remote PG Admin problem turned out to be a server rights issue. Thank you all for your help.
