Okay, I registered note page pro and installed it as a service. I'm not having any luck of getting the service started regardless of what account it is running under.

Does this actually work, has anyone ever done it? I find it silly that they refer you to an outdated Microsoft article (which doesnt even include Windows Server 2003) to install a service -- by the way, I used dameware utilities to do it which is much faster and easier than messing with resource kit utils.

Any help would be appreciated.

We do not officially support running NotePager Pro as a service, as it was not designed to do so. PageGate, however is designed for that purpose.

That being said, customers have made this work before.

I think part of the problem may be if you are trying this with the trial version of NotePager Pro. This is because the trial version displays a splash screen that needs to be confirmed before the program actually starts.

If you have downloaded the latest version (within the last day or so) there has been a change that may help. Try adding /minimized to the commandline when you run npp.exe. It will supress the splash screen until your trial is about to run out (about 20 days into the trial).

I hope that helps.

I said in my above message that I registered it. Any other ideas?

Are you trying to run NotePager Pro with SolarWinds' Orion Network Performance Monitor, or another software program? Integration information at http://www.notepage.net/solar-winds/integrationfaq.htm
