|

Twice now I've had an incident where GetTap does not restart automatically after its 12am cleanup routine. On both occasions I had to stop the service (using the services admin tool in windows) and restart it. This is a serious problem for us, as our switchboard pages use the GetTap interface (when it's down, the switchboard isn't sending any pages at all....) I've looked at the logs, and there is nothing unusual about them - it just shows the module stopping, then starting again when I force it to.
As we're a major hospital and now using PageGate for all of our pages system-wide, I really do need to figure out what is causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'd like to check something, if you wouldn't mind looking this up and letting me know the results.
Please go to your PageGate directory via the Windows Explorer. Go into the properties of the PageGate.exe file and go under the Version tab. What specific file version of PageGate does it say you're running?

Well, the first thing I'd like to try is have you update to version 4.0.0.95 - there were some minor updates with regards to the system services.
Try the following:
1) Make a backup of the pagegate.mdb database.
2) After you've mad the backup, download the latest installation file for PageGate from our website. (http://www.notepage.net click on the Download button under the PageGate section).
3) In the PageGate Admin, switch PageGate to run from "Windows Service" to "Application".
4) Manually stop all of the PageGate System services, close the Admin program, Monitor, and any GUI clients connected to the system.
4) Run the installation file, overwriting any files it prompts you to.
5) Once the installation is complete, reboot the system.
6) When the system comes back up, open the Pagegate Admin.
7) Switch the program to run from Application to System Service.
As a sidenote, when you switch the program to run as a system service again, it will prompt you for credentials. If you logged into Windows as an Administrator, you can leave those fields blank and simply hit apply.
