It's starting to piss me off, it's slowing down all my pages and the dialers are in the red.

Tim,

I just did some checking and Verizon is experiencing some "issues" today - not only with their SMTP gateway, but their entire SMS network

We too are having problems with Verizon and sending text via SMTP. Our dialer suddenly goes red. Is this due to verizon having problems?

Probably - I think you are seeing your dialler(s) go red due to the long time delay while awaiting for a response from Verizon's servers. I've logged into a couple of my public safety client's systems and have witnessed an average of 2 minute delivery time for each message to Verizon. (that's 2 minutes from the time the dialer starts the job until the checksum stamps successful)

When the messages do come through, they take forever. Some messages only take two minutes. Others are taking Hours. I called verizona and they said they are working on the problem. But they did not have an ETA.
