We have a phone system that can send a numeric page when a message is left in the voicemail. I just purchased the TAP module. Is there a way to configure it for this?

Thank you very much,

Jorge.

Jorge,

Currently, how does the phone system/voicemail connect to the system running PageGate?

The phone system is not currently connected to PageGate, it simply dials a pager #, pauses, send a numeric string (for callback number) and hangs up.

We would like the voicemail system to dial the pagegate number and do the same, but getTAP always answers with a data tone.

Have you looked at the GET DTMF option?

I have not seen any other options. I read somewhere else about GetTone, that apparently does what I want, and perhaps getDTMF does also. I cannot find any information on any of these products. Can you tell me where to find it (them)?

It looks like purchasing the getTAP option was not the right choice :(

Jorge.

getTAP was designed to allow PageGate to receive TAP protocol traffic and then relay it out via the newer, more efficient protocols. I'm sure NotePage Sales can help you acquire the module you need. I recommend you speak with them.

Jorge,

Go with OzCom's recommendation. I too, bought the tap and it was the wrong thing. With the DTFM which is Touch Tone it will work.

I am thinking you need a modem on your pagegate server or maybe you do do a serial cable. I used a modem. You will need to make so settings in the ASCII interface recipient section and create a lookup table. The voicemail will send something like "123" to pagegate, pagegate will use the lookup table to match "123" to pagegates realname of the recipient. You will need to set a static message somethink like "You have VM at xxx-xxxx. Good luck.

Tim
