|
|
My problem is this. I dial out to arch, and it sounds as if it connects, then it disconnects, and it will retry the process over and over, but there's never a solid connection, and the messages i'm trying to send obviously never send.
I'm using windows xp pro
Baud rate is set at 1200, i've tried 300
The init string is set to auto, it was set at AT&F
my modem is an Agere Win Modem, with the latest updates.
Parity=e
Data Bits=7
Stop Bits=1
ARCH=Carrier 18003743801
I've also included a call log.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks alot.

You are connecting with no issue.
The TAP terminal is rejecting the ID/Pin that you configured for the Recipient "mckernan".
This line for your log tells you - "4/14/2005 10:00:44 AM Bad ID or message content. Message aborted"
Please check the ID/Pin. It should only be the 10 digit pager number (i.e. - 1234567890 - No spaces, hyphens, etc..)

i know for a fact that the pager # is correct though with no spaces, dashes or hyphens. It doesn't make any sense. I have another user setup, that's dialing this same # without any proglems. the only difference with that user, is that she has version 2.1 and i'm having problems with version 2.0.
Don't know if the issue is there.

Turn on debugging by following the steps below. You will have more information in the log.
1.) Create a text file in the folder "C:\Program Files\NotePager Pro".
2.) Rename the file to "modem.dbg".
When you change the file name and extension, Windows should warn you about making the file unusable.
3.) Select "Yes".
When you start NotePager Pro, it will see the file (which acts as a flag) and write detailed connection information to the connection log file (named "npp.log").
We recommend increasing the log size ('Tools' - 'Settings' - 'General' - 'Max Log Length') to accommodate the increase in information being written to your logs.

No. The details are not there. The file extension may actually be ".txt", but hidden.
To turn on file extensions in Windows 2000 / XP:
1.) Open Windows 'Control Panel'
2.) Select 'Folder Options'
3.) On the 'View' tab, under "Advanced settings", clear (uncheck) "Hide (file) extensions for known file types".
4.) Select "OK"
In Windows 95/98/ME:
1.) Open Windows 'Control Panel'
2.) Select 'View' on the menu bar
3.) Select 'Folder Options'
4.) On the 'View' tab, under "Advanced settings", clear (uncheck) "Hide file extensions for known file types".
5.) Select "OK"
Go into C:\Program Files\NotePager Pro and check the "modem.dbg" file. remove the ".txt" if it appears.

hidden files are shown, and this is the npp.txt file within specified folder. Is there another way to turn on debugging? I'm still at a loss here.

i followed the steps provided. Created a text document within the folder specified, and it didn't tell me that the file could be unusable.
i have another user setup exactly the same, with same info in carrier info, and same infor in recipient. Only difference is the version. the one that works is using version 2.1 and the user that's not is using version 2.0.
???

Shut down NotePager Pro.
Then, download this file:
http://www.notepage.net/support/modem.exe
After saving the file to your computer, run it. It will create the debugging file for you in C:\Program Files\NotePager Pro.
Open NotePager Pro
Send a message
Post the last connection attempt (from npp.log) in the forum.

We obscured the Carrier number and ID/Pin in your post.
The terminal that you re connecting to is rejecting that ID/Pin.
4/15/2005 10:02:05 AM Received:<LF><CR>Record not found for ID: 000000xxxxxxxxxx <CR><RS><CR>
We tried sending a message using both the seven digit and ten digit ID/Pin, and the terminal rejected both.
Download and run the "modem.exe" on the machine running NotePager Pro 2.1.
Send a message from the 2.1 and compare log files.

You are dialing two different TAP terminals.
Compare the numbers
1-800-2506325 (ID/Pin accepted)
1-800-374-3801 (doesn't accept ID/Pin).
