Hello,

I'm just now setting up Pagegate v4 (we are upgrading from 3) and when attempting to pass messages to webgate.exe. I am receiving the following:

ERROR!!!

Internal Error #1004

Needless to say, the messages are not being passed.

Any idea what's going on?

On Windows 2000/XP, the "Internal Error #1004" message is related to insufficient permissions when attempting to run the "webgate.exe" on the web server.

In the IIS management console, check the properties of the Virtual Directory (usually the "Scripts" directory) to see if the "Execute Permissions" allow for running "Scripts and Executables".

Also, Check the NTFS permissions on your "Scripts" directory. Usually the Internet Guest Account "IUSR_*machinename*" should have "Full Control". In some cases, you may need to explicitly add that account to the list of names in the directory's Security.

Ok, I am running Windows 2003 server. I did make sure to enable scripts AND executables, and I just double checked it. I have now ensured that the IUSER account for the machine has full permissions to the directory. I also made certain that IIS will allow CGI executables. Now I am receiving the following error instead:

CGI Error

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a full set of HTTP headers.

Thanks for your help, and thanks in advance for more help!

Have you created recreated web pages for your Groups/Recipients on the new machine?

Did you look at the directions for installing IIS/GetWeb on 2003 Server: http://www.notepage.net/get-web-install-2003.htm

I've gone through that part. It works very well.

However, when I try pass

http://machine/scripts/webgate.exe?user=name&frm=name&msg=text

I am still receiving the bad header error. This is the recommended method in the help that comes with Pagegate. Also, I don't want to alter my existing application to use different web pages to send messages.

Actually, I've just determined that my existing application is working just fine now. I'm not sure why the URL passing isn't working, but I can live without it.

Thanks so much for your help!

Try using CAPS in the URL for USER, FRM and MSG -

http://machine/scripts/webgate.exe?USER=pgrecipient&FRM=sendersname&MSG=This+is+a+test

Well, that took care of that problem too.

Thanks again!
