I am attempting to use the T-Mobile SMTP connection to send pages to one of our department members. It is working in our alarm room, but I can not get it to work from the computer in our dispatch office.

When I added the SMTP carrier information in the dispatch computer, I noted that there was already a Local Domain Name entered and a DNS server address listed, both different from the listings in our alarm room computer. Initially, I used these listings to set up the SMTP carrier info. In attempting to send the page, it would not go through to the host.

I then changed the Local Domian name and the DNS server info to mirror the alarm room computer and again attempted to send the page with no success contacting the host.

I also made sure that a sender was listed for the system. The dispatch computer works well sending snpp and wctp data.

Can you shed any light on this problem. Thanks!

If you look at the connection log (npp.log), what does it say when attempting to connect to T-Mobile?

Does it actually connect and start delivery to T-Mobile's SMTP Server?
Does T-Mobile reject the messages?

Trying host: tmomail.net

Trying host: smtp.mail.readingohio.org

It looks like your current DNS Servers are returning no MX record for the "tmomail.net" domain.

Try using one of these IP addresses for the "DNS Server 1" entry under your SMTP Carrier;

199.166.28.10
199.5.157.128

we have the same setup..

"I am attempting to use the T-Mobile SMTP connection to send pages to one of our department members"

and for some reason, this one handheld will not receive the messages.

but all of the others will.

If the other Recipients receive messsages, it may just be incorrect settings for that Recipient.

Verify that you are using the correct ID/Pin or Email address in the Recipient's settings.
