Hi there,

I am new to notepage and I am having difficulty sending messages using SMTP.

I am trying to send a text to a t-mobile phone - the email address i have used is 07951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net. In my email inbox i get the following failed message report:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<+447951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net>
(reason: 550 Unknown local part +447951XXXXXX in
<+447951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net>)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to grouse4.one2one.co.uk.:
>>> DATA
<<< 550 Unknown local part +447951XXXXXX in <+447951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net>
550 5.1.1 <+447951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net>... User unknown
<<< 503 Valid RCPT TO <recipient> must precede DATA

Is it that i have set up notepager incorrectly (i tried changing 07951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net to another email address that i have and the email came through okay). Or is it a problem with the t-mobile address i am sending it to - in which case what would be a correct email address for uk t-mobile numbers?

Thanks a lot,

Justin

The email address for the recipient (T-Mobile phone email) should not contain the "+" symbol and you probably do not need the country code "44" either.

Try using "7951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net" or "07951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net" in the recipient settings.

hi,

I tried 07951 and 7951 at the beginning but both have failed. When i used the email address 07951XXXXXX@tmomail.net instead of 07951XXXXXX@@t-mobile.uk.net no failed email is sent to my inbox ( but still no message reaches my phone!).

Do you have any other suggestions? I have copied the dialer log below if that may help.

Thanks again for your help - much appreciated

Justin

You should contact T-Mobile. According to T-Mobile's UK web site, the proper email address format is with the leading "zero" - 07951XXXXXX@t-mobile.uk.net.

To add to Tech Support's answer - I think the fact that your dialer log shows "SUCCESSFUL" indicates that the recipient's Mail Server has recognized the address (of the phone) as a valid address and tells NotePager that it has done it's job. I've found that many of the cellular carriers charge an additional fee to the phone account for the privledge of passing messages through their system if the message did not originate within their servers
