I have been assigned as the PageGate admin recently, but with no training... I have managed to figure out most of the common functions rather easy, but we require an hourly test page to be sent out via text (email?) as a system integrity check.
Is it possible to create a scheduled task of some sort that causes PageGate to page itself?

Okay, well we've managed to figure out that the GUI Client aloows PageGate to page itself, now our current problem is recieving some sort of NOTICE (i.e. a read reciept) that the page was successful, or unsuccessful to our Help Desk email Inbox.
Is there a service that allows this?

1) you can schedule messages from GUI Client (as you've already figured out)
2) Due in part to the myriad of wireless carriers out there in the world - PageGate can not tell you that a message was "READ" (what happens if the recipient device has a dead bettery or is left in the desk or vehicle?). What PageGate can and will tell you is that the recipient's wireless carrier has accepted the message for delivery via the RF. Remember - wireless devices used to receive text messages are nothing more than fancy radio receivers (ok, some of them are actually transceivers capable of transmitting and receiving - cellular phones being the most prevalent). Many of the pagers in circulation today are simply not capable of letting you (the sender) know that a message was received_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

What I'm trying to say is that when you send en EMAIL page through PageGate, it sends a return email saying that the page was "successful" or not. I'm just trying to figure out if there's a way to automate that process so that we don't need to send out a test email every hour. I know that the history log in the GUI also notes if the page was sent successfully or not as well, but it does not have a "live" update or notification system, which is what I'm looking for.

PageGate Client does poll the database and display the status of a message next to the "Pending/Sent/Bad" items.

Probably the cleanest way to automate this is to use a scripting language like Perl or Python to periodically scan the appropriate logfile(s) to look for the results of your test page, and have it e-mail/page you on an error ...
