Which Verizon Paging (Airtouch) TAP terminal number are you using?

That number is used for Verizon Cell Phones only.
Try one of the Airtouch numbers listed here: http://www.notepage.net/tap-phone-numbers-a.htm
or contact Verizon Paging or the appropriate TAP terminal number in your area.

If you're using a Verizon PAGER (NOT a Verizon Cell Phone) - you will probably have to have the person paying the pager bill contact Verizon and request that they activate "3rd party messaging". Basically, this is a yes/no toggle in the CRM software that will allow a text message to be transmitted through the terminal even if it does not originate through their system_________________ Aaron D. Additionally - I noticed that one of the earlier posts mentiones "VerizonE" - in some markets, there is a re-seller names Verizone that is NOT Verizon - easily confused. This carrier may actually be re-selling a pager from another service (USAMobility <formerly Arch>, Ucom, SkyTel, etc)_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

I ran into the same problem.
After NUMEROUS discussions with Verizon, we finally figured out that the Verizon SNPP uses a 12 digit PIN/Phone number and our local access number and will only take a 7 digit PIN/Phone number. Also, the toll-free access numbers that are published will not accept a PIN, only a phone number.
If you are using a PIN for paging, the Verizon toll-free access numbers don't work even though it appears to have worked correctly. We were told that in order to use SNPP with a 12 digit PIN, we would have to use 1-972-353-1897 as our backup TAP number since it is their only number that accepts a 12 digit PIN instead of a phone number.
