We've been running this version of PageGate (6.0.0.4) for 4+ years without any issues. Over the past two nights, after the midnight cleanup routine, the application does not even attempt to start PGGMail.
Log File prior to the issue
10/6/2017 12:00:29 AM Module resumed
10/6/2017 12:00:30 AM Time synchronized with scheduler
10/6/2017 12:00:30 AM Asking PGGMail service to start
10/6/2017 12:00:31 AM Asking Connector1 service to start
10/6/2017 12:00:36 AM PGGMail start detected
10/6/2017 12:00:36 AM Connector1 start detected
10/6/2017 12:00:45 AM Asking PGMailServer service to start
10/6/2017 12:00:49 AM PGMailServer start detected
Log File after the issue began
10/15/2017 12:00:25 AM Module resumed
10/15/2017 12:00:25 AM Time synchronized with scheduler
10/15/2017 12:00:25 AM Asking Connector1 service to start
10/15/2017 12:00:29 AM Connector1 start detected
10/15/2017 12:00:54 AM Asking PGMailServer service to start
10/15/2017 12:00:58 AM PGMailServer start detected
Any ideas what would cause this?

We've worked on the PageGate mail server engine quite a bit between the older version and the newer, so there could be a few things happening.
First, though, have you tried rebooting the system since you've seen this behavior? If not, try that to see if it will let the service restart properly.
Second, I would recommend updating to the last build of version 6 that we released and would also definitely recommend upgrading to version 8 as, like I mentioned earlier, we've done quite a bit of work to the program's mail server engine and the way it implements and utilizes services in the last 4+ years.
Here's how to update to build 6.0.16:
1) Download the installation file here:
https://www.notepage.net/download/pgv6.0.16.exe
2) Stop all PageGate programs and services.
3) Right click on pgv6.0.16.exe and select 'Run as administrator'.
4) Select: Install PageGate Server
5) During the installation, make sure to specify the existing PageGate directory as the directory to install to. Otherwise, you can click on Next until it finishes.
6) If it asks you to reboot, please do so.
Once the system comes back up, did the GetMail module restart? |

Even though I did reboot several times, we finally figured out that there were multiple instances of PageGate running under the same account, but different sessions. Once, we discovered this and terminated one of the sessions, there were no issues. Thank you for the information about upgrading, we will definitely consider making the switch.
