We just purchased the PageGate program, and it's all set-up and running. Now I'm trying to set-up filters for the incoming email, for security, and it won't work. Here is what I've done to this point:
Created a folder called filters under the PageGate folder. (The directions in the HELP file state that the folder needs to be placed under the Database folder, but there isn't one.
Created a text file in the filter folder, named Global.AllowOnly
In the text file, I have placed a single email address, that I want to allow to be accepted. I've sent from other email addresses and they also go through.
From what I'm reading, that shouldn't happen.

Stop "GetMail" (right click on it under 'Interfaces', select "Stop").
Once GetMail stops, you can restart it (right click on it under 'Interfaces', select "Start"). .
The filters should work once GetMail restarts.
Also, please verify that the "Global.AllowOnly" does not have a ".txt" file extension.

Well it seems to work, but I'm not sure. I'm going to do some additional testing today, and I'll let you know.
The text file is named Global.AllowOnly which is a .txt file._________________ Mike Linthicum

Sometimes the file extensions in Windows are hidden.
If the file has the ".txt" extension (but hidden), filtering will not work.

If you create the file Global.AllowOnly with Notepad, it's going to have a file extension of .txt_________________ Mike Linthicum

You can't remove the .txt extension. When the file is created, you need to "assign" a file type. The only thing you can pick is a TEXT document._________________ Mike Linthicum

To display all file extensions (in 2000 and XP):
1) Open 'Control Panel'
2) Select 'Folder Options'
3) On the 'View' tab, under "Advanced settings", clear (uncheck) "Hide
extensions for known file types".
4) "Apply"
Once all file extensions are visable in Windows Explorer, you should be able to "rename" the file by removing the ".txt".
When you change (remove) the file extension, Windows should warn you
about making the file unusable.
Select "Yes"
