Pagegate v7 to Zetron 2100 TAP - Pages work but no ACK

We are successfully sending pages via TAP from Pagegate v7 to a Zetron 2100 terminal.

It appears that the "Acknowledgement" handshake isnt occuring...pagegate sends the message, the Zetron terminal sends the page, but then it doesnt appear to respond that "all is ok".

Then it sends the page (successfully) 2 more times (according to Pagegate's global settings) and then reports that it has failed (even though it worked 3 times). I've attached logs below.

Is there a way in pagegate to edit the "ack" settings? Or is this a Zetron terminal thing?

Thanks for the reply. Those were my thoughts exactly, but all of the ones i've seen on the forum as well as a neighboring county are all using 300 baud, so i assume that's what the terminal is set for. i even upgraded my commodore 64 computer's modem from 300 to 1200 baud back in the day.

it doesnt work with different settings just in pagegate...(doesnt send the page or even complete the handshake process)...i guess I could see if the setting can be changed in the Zetron, but do you think it would make a difference with the acknowledgement?

This is something we're beginning to see more often. According to the standards for the TAP protocol, the responding system must pass a CR (carriage return) before the ACK (Acknowledgement response). Technically, not passing the <CR> before the <ACK> isn't following the TAP specification but this is the third terminal we've interacted with in the last two months that isn't following the specification quite like it should.

So, pursuant to that, we've built a new connector executable that will look for and accept either the properly formatted <CR><ACK><CR> or the improperly formatted <ACK><CR>. Here's what you'll want to do:

1) Download the new connector executable here: http://www.notepage.net/download/dev/pgdial1.exe

2) Open the PG Admin.

3) Expand the Connectors section.

4) Right click on Connector 1, left click on Stop.

5) Copy the file you downloaded in step 1 and paste it in to the PageGate program directory.
5a) When prompted, you do want to overwrite the file.

6) Back in the PG Admin, right click on Connector 1, left click on Start.
