| Whatever you're dialing in to, it's not a TAP Terminal, so the TAP protocol won't work with it. What are you dialing in to in the above transactions? |

Thanks for the info, we are using Eircom and a number they provided for Internet Access. I am trying to see if they have a specific number for a TAP terminal right now. If they do not have a TAP terminal are there other ones that we could leverage in Ireland?

As far as we're aware, most of the European carriers have deactivated their third party access systems that used to support the TAP, SMTP, SNPP and WCTP protocols. Without those four protocols available, your only method of delivering an SMS message is to do a GSM or CDMA broadcast just like a cell phone does. So, you'll want to use a Cellular Modem to deliver your messages.
One of our resellers, whose forum handle is OzCom, specializes in Cellular Modem setups, so I'll request that they make a followup post to provide more detailed information on the hardware. |

Using a cellular modem may be your best bet. Remember - since MO/MT (Mobile Originated/Mobile Terminated) SMS traffic is transmitted over the cellular "control" channel, it is not seen as "data" by the carriers. THis also means that it is possible to send/receive SMS messages in areas where there is not enough cell signal to have a voice conversation. Basically - if your phone can "see" the network and register, it can be used for SMS. A ROUGH test is to determine how many bars of signal you have in the area where you intend to install the modem_________________ Aaron D. Osgood
