I was using Notepager 32 version 2.0 which I registered and paid for. The machine runs Windows 98SE on a Pentium III with 128meg RAM.
There was no problem running this concurrent with a T1 line internet connection and a connection to a Unix based server over a ethernet hub through its software (ICE.TCP). Also running was AVG antivirus. All of these programs got along well in the small overhead of 128 meg.

I discovered you had version 3.0 of Notepager out (for free now instead of the small fee I paid for Notepager years ago!) I installed this, but it didn't seem much of an improvement, so I removed it.

Now it seems that Notepager32 version 2.0, for which I paid, hangs at Formatting message and needs to be forcefully closed by Task Manager. A system resource monitor shows 83% available memory before it goes into message formatting and 0% when it crashes. I don't know how close to being out of memory I was before, because I never had this problem.
Unfortunately, version 2.0 is not available any longer so I can't delete and reinstall.

I have several questions:
Is there a compelling reason why I would want 3.0?
How can I get back to the version that worked fine?
Does this formatting problem seem plausible?

There is no difference in the way NotePager32 (2.6 / 3.0) deliver TAP
messages. Version 3 includes additional initialization strings to
accommodate for newer modems.

Messages always need to be formatted so that they can be sent
according to the protocol being used.

If you would like to revert back to NotePager32 version 2.6 please
e-mail forumsupport@notepage.com and we can provide you with a link to
download it.

If you have a copy of the original database file "npdb.mdb" please make a back up, so that it can be restored to the "C:\Program Files\NotePager32" directory.

Also, if your database cannot be restored you will need to enter your your Carrier, Recipient and original registration information in version 2.6.

Deleted version 2 (saving the database file, thank goodness). Then installed version 2.6. Works great (I have no idea why version 3 didn't work.) I had a bit of trouble entering the former registration key, but copying the old database over the new one worked (even though the registration number and my name and such is unchanged from the data I tried to type in.) The registration page fails to display the serial number or the correct version number, but that has no effect on function. Glad to have the program back. If I need a newer program, I 'll upgrade. Thank you for helping out.
