If you would, please send your contact information to support at notepage dot com so we can go through a few things off-list that might be a viable solution.

A few questions:

1) Are you running PageGate as a Windows Service or Application?

2) What is the path in the Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings?

3) Do you have anything in the Files table under Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings - Advanced Polling - Files?

4) Are the files being output just sitting in the folder and not going anywhere or are they disappearing but no messages ever get sent?

pagegate as an application

c:\PageGateData\ascii\

yes, files is .txt
path is \\hpnetnpm\PageGateData\ascii\
file type is custom

The files get dumped to this above folder on the NPM server but never get picked up by pagegate.

If the files are appearing in the \\hpnetnpm\PageGateData\ascii\ folder and end in a .txt extension but aren't being picked up, it means that PageGate doesn't have permission to read, write, or modify the \\hpnetnpm\PageGateData\ascii\ location. Go to the \\hpnetnpm\ server itself and check the permissions on the \\hpnetnpm\PageGateData\ascii\ share, verify that the permissions are set so that the PageGate system has full access to that folder.

Ah, that makes a bit more sense. Since PageGate is running as a service, you're going to need to go in to the properties of the PageGate GetAscii service and give it a username and password that has network access. By default, the System Account (which is what Services use unless specified otherwise) has no network access.

That's because it's not a function in PageGate, it's a function in Windows. This is what you'll want to do:

1) In Windows, go to Start - Control Panel.

2) Open the Administrative Tools.

3) Open Services.

4) Scroll down to the PageGate GetAscii service, then right click on it and go to Properties.

5) Go under the Log On tab.

6) Move the dot down to "This account" and specify an account name and password that has administrative access to the network path the GetAscii module needs to read.

7) Click on Apply.

8) Stop and Start the PageGate services.

When you configure the alert in NPM, you'll specify what recipient or group in PageGate needs to receive the message. In PageGate, you have complete control over who is and isn't a member of any particular group. So, if you have multiple groups that need to get the message, you can nest them inside a "master" group and then reference that master group in NPM.

In Orion, how are you specifically telling it to create the text file to begin with? Because the text file is referencing a group or a recipient name as is, so all you should have to do is edit the action creating the text file so that it's referencing whatever recipient or group name you want.

Right but in the configuration of the trigger action for the alert, you had to specify the details of the action. How do you have that trigger action configured?
