Hello,

We have a team that needs to change the membership of a group weekly (on call) so that the group can be used in Solarwinds Alerts but that only 1 person gets the alert. As they dont own the system and cant logon to it does anyone know if there is way they can remotely change the group membership?

Thanks,
Peter

You can install an additional instance of ADMIN on their PC. As long as your network will allow them to see c:/pagegatedata/database on the PageGate Server - they can do what you're looking for. You can also restrict their access in ADMIN so they can ONLY make changes to that group

Ahh good call, I've given them read only access to a hidden share and it allows them to login and change stuff (based upon the Rights).

I havent however been able to stop them from editing all groups / recipients (if the rights "Own Recipients" and "Own Groups" are selected.) I've even added a display group and having no luck.

Any ideas?

Look in ADMIN

Program -> Security -> Users......edit the user in question and give them access to their "own" groups and/or recipients

This is what I've done and the user has access to ALL the groups/Recipients not just their Own. I'll restart the services and test on another user.

Ahh I see, currently its Blank.

So if for example I have 3 people

User1
User2
User3

All who are all part of grp_1 as grp_1 can only have 1 manager would I be correct in assumuing I should create

grp_user1
grp_user2
grp_user3

All of which are a member of Grp.

That way each individual user can add/remove them from the group? How would you go about User1 removing User2 from grp_user2 while still limiting the top level group they can edit?

Sorry tried to explain this as best possible. Basically im aiming for "non" admins to be able to look after membership of a top level group without being able to see Admin functions and other groups.
