Has anyone gotten Page Gate to work with Orion when it is installed on a different server? Orion seems to want it on the same server. I can't figure out how to point it to the directory on a separate server.

There is an alternate configuration you can use, if Orion won't let you reset the path they're looking for. Create a directory on the Orion server called Ascii and make sure that the PageGate system is given full, administrative priveleges to the network share.
Then, go into the PageGate admin and go to the Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings. Specify the UNC path as the polling folder.
If you run PageGate as a Service, you'll also need to go into the properties of the PageGate Getascii system service, go under the Log On tab and specify a specific set of network administrative credentials. |

OK I got it to work with Page Gate on a separate server. My next question is how do I get different alerts to go to different people using this method? It looks like Orion just dumps the alert in the ascii folder and then page gate grabs it. Do I need to set up a different file for each possible pagee? I would like to utilize groups here as well.
NM - I think I figured it out.

Just need a little detail...
1. Can the directory be anywhere on the orion server?
2. When you say "make sure the PageGate system is given full permissions" do you mean one of the PageGate services? Which one?
Thanks!

1) Yes. The directory can be anywhere on the Orion server, just be sure to share it on the network so the PageGate system can access it.
2) If you're running as a service, you'll need to assign the PageGate GetAscii service a set of credentials that has unfettered access to the shared directory on the Orion server. |

The getASCII service needs access to that location_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

I am not understanding what executable path to put into the orion alert trigger. If this is a workaround to resetting the path Orion uses, how shall I reference the sendpage32 executable that is located on the other server?

Debbie,
I think you're misunderstanding. You want to create a directory on the Orion Server and share that directory on the network. Then, in the PageGate Admin, you're going to go to Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings. You'll then set the polling directory to the UNC path (\\server\directory\) on the Orion server that you shared. When you do so, the GetAscii module with auto-populate the directory with a good, bad and process folder as well as the sendpage.exe and sendpage32.exe files. |
