How does one set up general email addresses in NotePager Pro? I have a employee who doesn't want to have texts sent throught he carrier but sent to his email address that is then set up on his mobile device. How do you set up an email address using NPP?

Create a new carrier named Email and set it to use the SMTP protocol.
Whenever you're adding an email based recipient, set it to use the Email carrier and enter their email address in to the Email To field. |

OK. Thank you. That seems to work well. Another issue I am having is certain people are not receiving a message but through NPP it is saying it's succesful. Is there anything I can do to help them with that? Maybe it's a setting on their phone/account that I can help them with? Once particular carrier is Alltel.
**I am now getting this email back to me;

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
4********7@message.alltel.com on 02/01/2012 10:07
The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.
< lrx5664xmtasa.alltel.net #5.0.0 smtp; 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Specified address was invalid:' (delivery attempts: 0)>[/quote]
I took the number out for privacy reasons but these are all coming from Alltel.

Alltel has made a LOT of changes to their hosting system in the last year. The response you're receiving indicates that the SMTP host you're using for your Alltel people (message.alltel.com) can't deliver the messages to the phones. The best solution available is for you to change the protocol on the carrier to SNPP. Here's what you want to do:
1) Open the PageGate Admin.
2) Go to Carriers - Alltel - Settings.
3) Change the protocol to: SNPP
4) In the host field, enter: snpp.alltelwireless.com
5) Click on Apply.
Then go through the settings of all of your Alltel recipients and make sure that the phone number and ONLY the phone number is in the ID/PIN field. You will need to edit off the @message.alltel.com from the end of their phone numbers. |

OK. That seemed to work well. The next thing that just came up is it's saying the sender is '7677' and doesn't identify the company as the SNPP does. Most people receive text from multiple agencies as they do not only work for us. Is there a way to show who the text is being received from in the SMTP host?

I'm a little confused. Is it that the Sender isn't showing up as you want it to be for the SNPP or the SMTP traffic? |

When I was switching over the Alltel to SMTP host I sent a test page out and when the user received the test page it said it was from 7677.
When I sent out SNPP pages they were received on the phone identifying from the person logged into the computer.
I was curious if the 7677 was what the person receiving the message on the SMTP host (for Alltel) would see OR if there was a way to change it to the format the SNPP is.
SNPP = person@company.com
SMTP = 7677
I would like both SMTP and SNPP to state - person@company.com
I hope this helps. I know it's confusing.

How are you generating the messages? Are they being sent from the GUI client or one of our other interfaces? |

They are being sent from Note Pager Pro.

Ah, okay. This is the PageGate portion of the forum, so I thought you were using PageGate. To change the Sender's Name variable to something static in NotePager Pro:
1) Open NPP.
2) Go to Tools - Settings - General.
3) In the Sender's Name field, take out whatever is in there and enter what you want the static variable to be. For example, if you want all of your messages to come from someone@something.com, enter that as the Sender's Name.
4) Click on Apply. |
