Hello,

I am trying to try out PageGate to see if it could replace our current home grown paging software. I don't need PageGate to provide me with a SMTP server as I already have one running on the machine. Is there any way I can create a carrier that simply uses the existing SMTP server for sending out emails?

Also, recipients only seem to be able to have one carrier selected at a time. If I want someone to receive both an email and a page, would I need to create two recipients for them?

Thanks for any advice.

To tell PageGate to use a specific mail server, go in to the PageGate Admin and go in to the Connectors - Global - SMTP section. Once there, put a check in the "Relay All Mail" field and enter the SMTP Server in to the Relay Server field and click on apply.

As for the recipients, you would need to enter them individually as a recipient cannot be assigned multiple devices.

Thanks, I've made the changes and created a recipient with a carrier that uses SMTP. It seems to be trying to send the email, but PG Monitor shows it as "Pending".

The scheduler is running ok. The global settings "Local Domain" is set to the domain the server is running on. Should this be the same as the domain of the email addresses that I want to send it to?

In the Monitor, is the "Connectors" section green or red? Also, can you see the Connector 1 autoscroll window? If so, is there any text in it?

The connectors section is green. The Connector1 autoscroll window shows only the fact that the module has started and the time has been synced with the scheduler. Connector1 is what I've set as my TAP connection for SMS out via a modem (which works fine!).

I have created a carrier called "Email-out" that has the SMTP protocol selected in its settings. Then I created a recipient that uses this carrier and has their email in the "email to" field.

I used the SendPage32 command line to send some text to this recipient. The GetAscii window says "message accepted..." and "completed working on message". The logs show that the message is scheduled. The logs also show "Asking Connector1 module to start". Is it trying to use my email only recipient with my TAP SMS connector?

I think it might be easier to go over this via phone or email than by forum. If you would, please email all of the c:\pagegatedata\logs\*.log files to support at notepage dot com along with your contact information.
