running Pagegate 4.0 on WindowsXP
Are there any issues or conflicts or recommendations with using veritas backup exec to do online backups of the PageGate.mdb? I noticed that the PageGate software itself does not provide a database backup utility. Thanks in advance.

Whatever backup procedure you use, make sure it doesn't hardlock the database when it's making the backup. If it locks the file, PageGate will go offlien while the backup is being made. |

As part of the midnight cleanup routine, PageGate makes a local copy of the database named PGEDB.bak_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

PageGate version 4.0 can be upgraded to version 5 for $100.00.
Download a free trial of PageGate v5 software (2 recipients enabled and restart every 3-5 days), upgrade instructions, and new features at http://www.notepage.net/pagegate-v5.htm. The upgraded v5 Registration Key is needed to fully register PageGate v5 software.

I don't see a PGEDB.BAK file but I see these two files...
pgedbtmp.mdb
pgedbbak.mdb
Are one of these the local copy? Can this midnight maint be customized to put the copy in another location on the local computer?
Thanks

oops - forgot - you're using an older version. The file you want is pgedbbak.mdb
Unfortunately, PageGate can't easily drop that in another folder. What many of my clients do, however, is to configure their network backup routine to grab a copy of that file at some set time after midnight (like, 12:30 am or so)_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

We have PageGate 5.0 and the files are named
pgedbbak.mdb
pgedbtmp.mdb
These are being created at midnight. They are both the same size as pagedate.mdb.
If I had a reason to do a restore, what would be the procedure - possibly as simple as just rename one of the files (which one, or, it doesn't matter)?
I checked the provided help files and was surprised this basic information isn't provided. Perhaps you can update the help files with your answer. Thanks.

1) Stop PageGate
2) Rename existing PageGate.mdb to something else, like OLDPageGate.mdb
3) Rename pgedbbak.mdb to pagegate.mdb
4) Start PageGate
The only thing you will lose is messages and changes made since midnight last night_________________ Aaron D. Osgood
