|
|
Hello,
I am trying to configure SMTP to Verizon phones in PageGate 5.0 and so far am not having any luck.
I have entered 2 good DNS servers under GLOPBAL SMTP
I have the recipients set as #10@vtext.com
The dialer keeps showing that it is trying smtp-bb.vtext.com but then disconnects with message not accepted.
I can telnet to smtp-bb.vtext.com on port 25 from my test box. I can telnet to the IP address from the customer machine as well but must use the IP address because the only external DNS on the server is in the PageGate settings.
Any suggestions? If any further info is needed, just let me know.
Thanks,
Matt

Sods like your sending IP is blacklisted - have you tried an alternate DNS provider? (relay server)_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Actually, if you can telnet to the address and get a 220 response but PageGate can't connect to the address, my first guess would be that something is specifically blocking PageGate from using port 25. Normally, this is caused by something like Kaspersky or Symantec/Norton or McAfee. |

I do get the 220 reponse when I telnet to 69.78.128.213 on port 25.
There is no AV or Firewall on this server. Is it possible that the ISP is blocking it?

Wait... what happens if you try to telnet to the domain name smtp-bb.vtext.com - does it fail? |

The only external DNS on this machine is in PageGate under the Global settings. So if I try to telnet by name it cannot be resolved. That is why I was using the IP.
When PageGate attempts to send the message's I can see in the dialer that it is able to resolve to smtp-bb.vtext.com.

You could try modifying your hosts table on the PageGate computer to hard-code smtp-bb.vtext.com to 69.78.128.213. That would remove DNS from the equation.
I think you need to reboot after updating the hosts file, for Windows to notice. |

Looks like adding the record to the host file worked.
Thanks!
